DILG Citizen’s Charter Introduced

Do you want to know the kind of services that you can get from your nearest Philippine National Police Station and the Department of Interior and Local Government? If you are interested and want to maximize the services that can be delivered by the department, then what you need to check out is the DILG Citizen’s Charter. This is a document that spells the information on the frontline services that the department provides to the public.

The official introduction of the document was made this week, and this was led by Secretary Ronnie Puno and other key officials of the office. The development and the introduction of this kind of document is actually part of the overarching program of the government to reduce the bureaucratic red tape common in many government institutions. The development and the introduction of this charter will also ensure that the office can efficiently deliver their services to the targeted clientele. The objective of the government to eliminate or at least reduce the so-called red tape in the government is defined in the Anti Red Tape Act of 2007 or otherwise known as the Republic Act of 2007. The provisions of this law call for all government offices to set up their own service standards and also to effectively identify the frontline transactions of their offices.

Here are some data and information that can be read in the department’s Citizen’s Charter:
• The vision and mission of the department
• The listing of the frontline services offered by the department
• Clientele
• The step-by-step process in order to get a service, and the officer that you need to consult and see in order to avail of the service. You will also be given an estimate on how long the process will take.
• The procedure for the filing of the complaints in relation to the requests and applications.

These are the major pieces of information that can be learned from the department’s charter. Secretary Puno is proud that the department has done its part. And he added that this is only a manifestation of the department’s commitment to deliver only the best kinds of services to its clientele.
